The data shows that between January and March of this year there were 180 percent more Airbnb searches in the kingdom than there were during the same time last year. 3.3 million foreign visitors traveled to Thailand between January and July of this year, according to the Thai Tourism Authority. The “Land of Smiles” will welcome 9.3 million foreign visitors in 2022, according to a prediction made in July by the Tourism and Sports Ministry.
It is yet uncertain how many foreign visitors will visit the “Land of Smiles” this year. This information follows last week’s statement by the Thai Hotels Association that it is predicted that South Thailand’s hotel occupancy will rise during “peak season,” which lasts from October to December. When the “Thailand Pass” was terminated on July 1, according to the Songkhla Tourism Industry Council, around 80% of the province’s hotels reopened. The president of the council, Somphol Cheewawattanapong, predicted that Songkhla will get about 800,000 foreign tourists in 2022, or “about 40% of the two million visitors every year before the outbreak.” The number of requests for lodging on Airbnb in Thailand has significantly increased, according to the most recent Airbnb data. However, it seems that Thailand’s tourism industry is slowly but surely making a comeback, as evidenced by the large rise in Airbnb searches from both Thai and foreign tourists this year. Tourists from Thailand and other nations in particular searched for Airbnb lodging in well-known cities including Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Koh Samui.
