After the last increase in 2020, Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin thinks it’s time to raise the minimum daily wage again. The three-party committee decided on average increases of 5.02 percent last month, with different rates for nine groups of provinces. Chon Buri, Rayong, and Phuket will pay 354 baht per day, while Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, Nan, and Udon Thani will pay 328 baht. Mr. Suchart said that the Ministry of Finance would raise interest rates to help cushion the effects of rising inflation, especially on the poorest people. In Nan and Udon Thani, the prices of goods would go up by eight baht. Labor unions wanted rates to be much higher than they were yesterday. Before May 1, groups said that a new national tax of 492 baht should be put in place. He said that the average increase of 5.02 percent was fine for business owners who knew how hard things were for most people.
Next month, the new minimum wage rates will go into effect. Adding that the Energy Ministry will come up with ways to lower gas prices. He said that the pension scheme would not be affected by the cut in monthly SSF contributions.Interim Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon says that the new daily minimum wage for the country is in line with what the national wage committee decided. Bangkok workers would get 353 baht, which is 22 baht more than what they used to get, which was 331 baht. The ministry has asked the Social Security Office to look into more cuts to SSF contributions to help businesses with their money for a few months.

Thai government will boost the minimum wage by 5% beginning on October 1
