Royal Police Cadet Academy Scandal: Investigation Launched into Allegations of Cadet Misconduct

The Royal Police Cadet Academy (RPCA) recently found itself not just in the spotlight, but under a magnifying glass as a serious allegation surfaced concerning a first-year police cadet’s distressing encounter with an instructor and his friend. What initially seemed like a rumor swirling on social media was soon confirmed as a grim reality. Pol Maj Gen Sakrapee Priewpanich, the diligent deputy commissioner of the RPCA, somberly confirmed that the claim, indeed, held water.

With the scandal now glaringly out in the open, Pol Maj Gen Sakrapee wasted no time. He entrusted the astute Pol Maj Gen Jirachart Charoensri, chief of the Cadet Command Division, with the unenviable task of orchestrating a full inquiry. Both parties involved have been scheduled for a rigorous round of questioning, with consequences hanging over like an ominous cloud.

This incident steps into the murky waters of sexual indecency—a grave matter by any standard. The cadet at the heart of this distressing saga, now of legal age, is currently seeking counsel with his parents to decide the most prudent course of action. It’s a weighty decision, potentially involving a criminal complaint, and it will need all the thoughtfulness and courage he can muster.

Pol Maj Gen Sakrapee is standing firm in his resolve that the RPCA will neither turn a blind eye nor exercise selective memory over this scandal. The academy is committed to addressing the issue head-on, with transparency and accountability lighting the way. Anything less, and the RPCA’s esteemed reputation could be irrevocably tarnished.

In a decisive move, a dedicated committee is being formed to delve into the allegations with the thoroughness the situation demands. Whether this will result in the instructor’s suspension or his outright removal is yet to be determined, but the wheels of justice are certainly in motion.

This firm RPCA response was sparked by a post from “Bigkren,” a widespread Facebook platform advocating urgency in handling the scandal. The post vehemently called upon national police chief Kittharath Punpetch to scrutinize the academy’s environment where apparently an instructor and his police ally leveraged their seniority to coerce the cadet.

The unwelcome tale takes a disturbing turn on the night of November 16. This was when the duo allegedly loitered near the bleachers, lying in wait like predators with alcohol in hand. Forced to drink, the cadet then experienced an undue invasion of his privacy, an egregious breach claiming to help him perform a personal act. Understandably, the cadet reported this as a totally inappropriate assault on his dignity.

This isn’t the first time such misconduct has surfaced against the instructor. Repeatedly indulging in such behavior, his previous antics had already reached the ears of the cadet command officers. Yet, alas, the handling had been less than satisfactory—more akin to muffled rumbles than action-packed resolutions.

The public outcry on platforms like “Bigkren” is stirring unease amongst cadets’ families, raising the stakes and pressure to see justice served. The alleged victim is not alone; evidence is being meticulously compiled, and witnesses are encouraged to lend their voices, fortifying the call to arms against the alleged harassers. As the momentum builds, the RPCA braces itself to not only confront the scandal but hopefully emerge with trust restored and integrity beyond reproach.

It’s shocking that such misconduct still occurs in institutions like the RPCA! Where’s the accountability?

    • Sara75 November 21, 2024

I agree, it’s hard to trust the people meant to protect us when this happens.

      • James November 21, 2024

Exactly, if the police can’t police themselves, how can they police us?

    • Larry D November 21, 2024

Well, not all officers are like this. Let’s not generalize based on a few bad apples.

  2. katethegreat November 21, 2024

I read somewhere that these things get covered up all the time! Maybe there’s more we don’t know.

    • Tommy November 21, 2024

I think you’re right. Secrecy is often part of these institutions.

    • Grower134 November 21, 2024

People love conspiracy theories, but this one seems pretty detailed.

      • katethegreat November 21, 2024

I just hope the investigation is truly independent and thorough.

As long as there are those who abuse power, there will be scandals. The key is transparent investigation and reforms.

    • Ken November 21, 2024

Reforms, yes! But who watches the watchmen?

    • Dr. Amelia R. November 21, 2024

An external oversight body could help. It’s challenging but necessary.

  4. Willowtree93 November 21, 2024

Why didn’t the cadet report sooner if this has happened before?

    • Bianca J November 21, 2024

People often freeze when they’re scared. It’s unfair to blame the victim.

    • Charlie D. November 21, 2024

Yeah, self-doubt and fear of retaliation are real.

  5. Edward November 21, 2024

The fact that social media had to blow this up for action to be taken is terrifying!

    • Alicia November 21, 2024

Social media can be a blessing and a curse in these situations.

    • Edward November 21, 2024

True, but in this case, it seems like the only outlet for justice.

  6. Anna Lee November 21, 2024

This case just shows how deeply entrenched power dynamics can ruin lives. Hoping for justice!

    • Ben November 21, 2024

It’s a systematic issue. Rooting out bad actors won’t fix everything.

      • Anna Lee November 21, 2024

Absolutely, systemic change is a must!

      • Edward November 21, 2024

Couldn’t agree more. Systems need overhaul to prevent this.

  7. Randy November 21, 2024

I think the RPCA needs to be shut down until they sort this mess out! No exceptions.

    • Felicia K November 21, 2024

Shutting down might be too extreme. Reform, yes, but total shutdown could harm cadets’ futures.

  8. Claire B. November 21, 2024

Can’t believe this happened in 2024! Have we learned nothing from past scandals?

    • Steve O. November 21, 2024

History seems to keep repeating, doesn’t it?

    • Claire B. November 21, 2024

It does, sadly. Hope something good comes out of this, at least!

  9. Sammy89 November 21, 2024

If charges aren’t brought, it’s a total failure of the justice system.

  10. Joan November 21, 2024

Every victim needs to be heard and their stories validated. Silence is not golden in these cases.

    • Markus R. November 21, 2024

Yes! More platforms for victims to safely voice their experiences are needed.

  11. Lucy1982 November 21, 2024

The public outrage is the only thing keeping such issues from being swept under the rug.

  12. Oliver T. November 21, 2024

The instructor should face the harshest penalties if found guilty. Enough with the slaps on the wrist.

    • Ingrid S November 21, 2024

We need harsher penalties to deter future misconduct, absolutely.

  13. Gerry November 21, 2024

With cameras everywhere, how did this go unnoticed? They should install cameras if not already in place.

  14. Sophia W. November 21, 2024

This is just heartbreaking. My trust in authorities is dwindling with each scandal.

    • Pierce November 21, 2024

Hang in there. Maybe this time, changes will happen.
