In a deeply unsettling incident that has struck a profound chord nationwide, the Royal Thai Army (RTA) has voiced its heartfelt sorrow over the tragic death of a young conscript, Vorapach Padmasakul, whose life was violently cut short during punitive training exercises last year. In a serendipitous twist of justice, the courts have sentenced two military instructors alongside 11 senior conscripts to prison terms ranging from 10 to 20 years for their roles in this gruesome act.
Vorapach, a mere 18 years of age, served in the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, King’s Guard, showing promise and potential before his untimely demise on August 2, 2024.
