Captivating the finer details of prevailing economic tides, the narrative revolves around dominant conglomerate, Rainbow Group Co Ltd, which pointedly steered clear of the lukewarm business performances exhibited by other highlighted corporations. As inferred by exhaustive groundwork laid by Thansetthakij, research points to this conglomerate as the main catalyst for revenue generation.
Followed closely by a synergy with the Department of Business Development, Thansetthakij revealed nuanced financial breakdowns of notable companies. At the helm, the Rainbow Group Co Ltd chalked up a revenue spanning a staggering 938.74 billion baht. Having noted down expenses to the tune of 937.48 billion baht, this livestock and livestock research firm further reported a minor profit of about a million baht.
Next in line, RTN Overseas Co Ltd, a logistics and service storage company, garnered gleaming revenues of approximately 4.7 million baht. Bolstered by an expenditure of 3.54 million baht, their financial books reflect a modest profit of a million baht. Meanwhile, The Cube Logistics Co Ltd refrained from submitting vital financial statements, inciting a shroud of mystery around this logistics and storage services firm.
Operating as a wholesale company, Good Water Equipment Co Ltd dove into financial trenches with a 10,700 baht loss, as there was no revenue to offset the respective expenses. Furthermore, amidst a frozen meat trading milieu, Kanta Thai Frozen Fish Ltd Part managed a revenue of 15.31 million baht, expenses of 14.562 million baht and a modest profit of 684,913 baht.
A customs clearance services firm, My House Trading Co Ltd, ran into slight losses due to expenses that mildly exceeded revenue by 500 baht, while Sahatsawat Foods Ltd Part, a seafood trading firm, drew attention through their missing annual financial report. Newly registered Sea World Frozen Food Co Ltd simmered in suspense, with a pending first financial report.
These companies were thrust into the limelight by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin as part of his fervent push for heightened crackdowns on prominent frozen-pork traffickers. A grave concern stemming from plummeting pork prices that detrimentally impact Thai pig farmers fueled Srettha’s ire.
Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting bore witness to Srettha’s impassioned plea towards the Justice Ministry and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to hook the major players in the pork smuggling ring. By November 18, DSI reported the arrest and temporary release of six suspects with direct links to this shadowy underworld.
Intriguingly, the list of suspects features influential leaders from various firms: Maneewan Jiraworawong of RTN Overseas, Dome Wajankupti of The Cube Logistics, Natthamon Somboon from Good Water Equipment, Jenjira Pornrattanakul of Kanta Thai Frozen Fish and Sakda Thongthanom from My House Trading. Following close, Weerasak Kijnatthee, director of Sahatsawat Foods was arrested on November 15, with Konchanat Sornmayura, executive of Rainbow Group, captured a day later.
Adding to the web of felony, Rainbow Group’s director and authorised signatory, Somnuek Kayawatanakit, committed to surrender on November 24. Meanwhile, DSI officials keenly hunt for Pichet Saesee, an executive from Sea World Frozen Food.
