The much-anticipated Sustainability Expo 2023 (SX 2023) is back, following the staggering success of its predecessor in 2022 that garnered attention from a staggering 253,000 visitors. This event, reputed as one of the biggest sustainability assemblies in the ASEAN region, is celebrated for championing more responsible, sustainable living and seeks to improve its attendance record with aspirations of attracting over 320,000 participants this year. Set to take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok between September 29 and October 8, 2023, the event promises to be significantly larger and richer in content than ever before.

Championed by Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) and coordinated in unison with four partners, namely, Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited (FPT), PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), and Thai Union Group Public Company Limited (TU), SX 2023 is themed “Sufficiency for Sustainability”. This theme echoes with the ideals of sufficiency economy propounded by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and showcases the trends and innovations that are shaping the future of sustainable living, thus paying tribute to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s continuous efforts towards bettering the lot of the people.

The climax of global warming has ushered in an era of ‘Global Boiling’, and SX 2023 takes it upon itself to bring about significant changes in the world by providing a platform for regional and global organisations, government, private sectors, and a wide network of partners both nationally and internationally. Ms. Tongjai Thanachanan, SX Director, believes that through SX 2023, they can create ripples and raise awareness about sustainability in various dimensions, eventually leading to a ‘Good Balance, Better World’.

The 2023 edition of SX, promising fun and learning over 10 exciting days, is slated to attract over 320,000 participants. It proudly exhibits the collaboration of over 100 organisations, 250 high-profile guest speakers, and an unprecedented network of 500 regional and international sustainable businesses. Covering over 70,000 square meters at QSNCC, this event has significantly expanded from its previous year’s size of 40,000 square meters.

At SX 2023, participants can fortify their knowledge about fostering a clean environment and incorporating circular economy concepts through presentations centring around four principles: Water Stewardship, Decarbonisation, Biodiversity, and Waste Management. Additionally, attendees can get a first-hand experience at the exhibition on sustainability-related arts and the Blind Experience zone, which promotes social equality through a blindness simulation experience.

The SX Food Festival, another attraction of the event, is themed “Thai Street Food Museum,” and offers a set of delightful dishes curated by celebrity chefs under a Zero-Waste Cooking concept. For the pre-teen children, the SX Kids Zone provides fun and educational activities about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, clean energy, recycling, and ocean preservation.

Finally, for those of you who want to buy eco-friendly products, the SX Marketplace showcases offerings from eco-designers, environmental innovation products, and home décor items from over 200 shops. This year’s Sustainability Expo promises attendees a genuinely immersive and enriching experience, insightfully amalgamating sustainability efforts in various areas.
