In an event that expertly blends education, sustainability, and the beloved aroma of freshly brewed coffee, Boncafe (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently delighted their cherished customers with the “Boncafe Route to Root” experience. Aptly themed “Beyond the Beans,” this fascinating journey unfolded from the 25th to the 27th of November 2024, amidst the lush greenery of Na Thep Sadet Garden, nestled in the serene Thep Sadet of Doi Saket District, Chiang Mai Province. Now in its vibrant third year, the event promises a transformative peek into the coffee world’s backstage, revealing ethereal processes from cherry to cup.

Participants were taken on a sensory tour de force, guiding them through the mesmerizing stages of coffee’s lifecycle. They donned the hats of farmers, meticulously hand-picking cherries, meticulously washing, reverently drying, gingerly polishing, intentionally roasting, and ultimately jubilantly tasting the fruits of their labor. Each step unfolded like a theatrical production, showcasing the painstaking care and heartfelt commitment seeded into each bean by diligent farmers striving to serve the most exquisite coffee to enthusiasts worldwide.

This year’s expedition included a notable detour to Fora Bee, a premier bee farm in Thailand and a cherished ally of Boncafe. Revered for its top-tier bee products, Fora Bee’s creations infuse an enchanting symphony of flavors into Boncafe’s diverse array of aromatic brews, amplifying their coffee’s melodious crescendo.

Acknowledging the value of both customers and communities, Boncafe orchestrated activities that harmonized individual experiential journeys with collective social responsibilities. With a keen eye on community upliftment, the company bolstered research initiatives and community learning centers in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Development Agency and Chiang Mai University’s esteemed Faculty of Engineering. The Thep Sadet learning center emerges as a beacon of hope, serving as a replicable blueprint poised to catalyze the development and augmentation of agricultural products, proudly aligned with the BCG model.

Consistent with their enduring commitment to Mother Earth, Boncafe’s event emphasized environmental stewardship. Armed with chic tote bags, participants were urged to eschew plastic in favor of eco-friendly alternatives, trumpeting a clarion call for nature conservation subtly interwoven with coffeecentric education and awareness.

Further pledging allegiance to sustainability, Boncafe has ventured into the sustainable agriculture landscape within the coffee sector. Their introduction of the Boncafe Rainforest Reserve coffee beans, bearing the Rainforest Alliance’s esteemed certification, heralds a new dawn of responsibly sourced, superior Vietnamese coffee beans.

“Route to Root Season 3” transcended the mere art of coffee cultivation, transforming it into a well-rounded saga of enlightenment, engagement, and eco-consciousness. Boncafe Thailand ardently upholds its commitment to sustainable practices, amplifying the voices of Thai coffee farmers for an illustrious 33 years and counting. The company’s unwavering dedication translates into undeterred, stable growth, while faithfully pouring premium quality coffee into the cups of its eager supporters.

This Boncafe experience sounds amazing! It’s great to see companies making efforts in sustainability.

    • Joe November 29, 2024

It does sound interesting, but I wonder if these events are really making a difference or just for show.

      • coffee_lover89 November 29, 2024

I get your point, Joe. Sometimes it’s hard to tell. But even small changes can lead to positive outcomes, don’t you think?

      • EcoChic November 29, 2024

Every little bit helps! It raises awareness and promotes eco-friendly habits among coffee drinkers.

      • Klaus November 29, 2024

Awareness is great, but these companies need to go beyond that and implement real changes.

  2. Sophie_M November 29, 2024

I love that they’re integrating bee products into the coffee. It’s a unique touch!

    • Jake1992 November 29, 2024

Bees and coffee? That’s a bizarre combo. How does that even work?

      • Sophie_M November 29, 2024

It’s about adding subtle flavors. Honey or other bee products can enhance the natural taste of the coffee.

      • LarryD November 29, 2024

As long as it doesn’t overpower the coffee itself, I’m willing to try!

  3. GrowerL134 November 29, 2024

This event is just another marketing gimmick. Real sustainability in coffee farming requires more than just tote bags.

    • Samantha November 29, 2024

Hard to argue there. What do you think would actually help, then?

      • GrowerL134 November 29, 2024

Investments in Fair Trade and direct support to small farmers. Stop with the greenwashing.

  4. Olivia_H November 29, 2024

The educational aspect of this program seems invaluable for both consumers and producers.

    • BenS November 29, 2024

I agree. When consumers understand how their coffee is made, they often make more responsible choices.

    • Natalie November 29, 2024

It’s a great way to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers. More companies should do this.

  5. fairtradefan November 29, 2024

Do they pay their farmers fair wages? That’s my main concern with events like these.

    • coffee_lover89 November 29, 2024

Good question. It would be nice to know more about how Boncafe ensures fair compensation.

    • Tom November 29, 2024

Be skeptical. Many companies claim to be ethical but don’t back it up when you dig deeper.

  6. EcoAficionado November 29, 2024

We need more companies like Boncafe leading the way in sustainable business practices!

  7. Marcus72 November 29, 2024

This kind of stuff is why I stick to local coffee shops. I know how they source their beans.

    • Alice_M November 29, 2024

Local is always a good choice if you can verify their practices. But big companies can create broad impact too.

  8. Thinker21 November 29, 2024

Sustainability is key in today’s global economy. It’s good to see Boncafe taking steps, but the real impact remains to be seen.

  9. Jenny87 November 29, 2024

I’m just here for the coffee. All these details about sustainability are nice but can be overwhelming.

    • Sophie_M November 29, 2024

Sometimes it feels that way, but it’s important we know where our coffee comes from!

  10. GreenGrower November 29, 2024

What Boncafe is doing is impressive, but I wish more focus was on reducing carbon footprints across the board.

    • LukeP November 29, 2024

Carbon footprint reduction is crucial. I bet a lot of industries are lagging behind.

  11. Brewmaster86 November 29, 2024

How about we just enjoy the coffee and stop politicizing everything?

    • EcoChic November 29, 2024

Because where and how it’s produced matters, even if it’s just coffee, Brewmaster.

  12. NatureNut November 29, 2024

Integration of bee products is genius. It’s great to use natural ingredients wherever possible.

    • Marcus72 November 29, 2024

Agreed, it’s always a better choice than artificial additives.

  13. CaffeineQueen November 29, 2024

I’d love to attend one of these events. The connection with nature and coffee is fascinating.

    • Joe November 29, 2024

Just hope it’s more than a fancy presentation.

  14. Tina_L November 29, 2024

Does anyone know if Boncafe plans to expand these events internationally?

    • Jenny87 November 29, 2024

Now that would be something! Bringing the experience closer to home could be quite popular.
