Grab’s development into the provision of digital financial services commences with the launch of “PayLater by Grab” in Thailand. Grab is Southeast Asia’s most successful super app. At a press conference conducted on Wednesday, Worachat Luxkanalode, the country head of Grab Thailand, indicated that the objective of this facility is to provide more payment options for all Grab services on a single bill. According to him, beginning the next month, this post-paid service will provide Grab users with greater freedom, a more seamless experience, and additional rewards. These benefits will cover mobility in addition to on-demand delivery of food, packages, and common products.
According to Worachat, “to give a better experience for our users, we’ve developed ‘PayLater by Grab’ beginning with the launch of the post-paid service, which allows Grab users to pay for all services in a single monthly bill.” The first phase in the process of creating the post-paid service was “PayLater by Grab.” The move is a response to the increased popularity of online shopping over the past several years, which has led to the creation of novel digital financial services that may better satisfy the needs of customers. According to a report published by e-Conomy SEA 2022, the total transaction volume of digital payment in Thailand is forecast to reach US$113 billion in 2022, and this figure is expected to increase by 12% by 2025. The “Buy Now, Pay Later” service, which allows customers to more easily manage their financial responsibilities, is one of the fastest-growing offerings. According to Worachat, approximately two-thirds of Grab users utilize cashless payment options such as the GrabPay Wallet and credit cards. He continued by stating that Grab’s post-paid service under the PayLater brand has three significant advantages: Flexibility — customers can consolidate all transactions into a single bill and pay for it the next month; Simplicity — users can select the post-paid payment option before to finalizing an order across all Grab service applications. Users can earn up to two more GrabRewards points for every 16 baht spent on Grab. According to Worachat, the launch of PayLater by Grab is an attempt by the company to adapt to consumer behavior by providing Grab customers with financial liquidity. This was addressed as part of Grab’s PayLater launch. He pledged to continue expanding its service offerings in the future to meet the diverse needs of partners and users for digital payment in all its forms.
