Legless British Tourist Halts Pattaya Traffic in Intoxicated Stunt: June 2025

In a peculiar display of inebriated defiance, a legless British tourist managed to bring the bustling heart of Pattaya to a screeching halt. The unconventional episode unfolded at the stroke of 5 PM on June 23, when bewildered drivers caught sight of a foreign man lounging leisurely across the entrance to Soi 11, just a stone’s throw from Pattaya Central Road.

At the helm of the situation was Senior Officer Sub-Lieutenant Suchart Dusadee, who led a police patrol to address the curious roadblock. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the sight of a man in his 30s, enjoying a strange road-side siesta. There he lay, stretched out without a care, on the unforgiving asphalt, traffic piling up behind him like an exasperated chorus line. Attempts by locals and tourists alike to coax him from his lounging were met with stubborn refusal.

One onlooker recounted the scene, shaking his head in disbelief, “He just wouldn’t budge. Absolutely out of it!” The cops, trying their best not to laugh, attempted to reason with him, but logic seemed to bounce off his seemingly impenetrable shield of inebriation. Ultimately, the officers had no choice but to wrap him in a large cloth, resembling a giant burrito, and gently relocate him to the back of a pickup truck, off to the hospital he went, bundled yet blissfully unaware.

The saga of this red-faced rogue didn’t just start there. It was revealed that a mere couple of hours earlier, the same gentleman had received a police escort back to his condo after another bout of alcohol-induced escapades. Alas, undeterred and perhaps buoyed by his adventures, he resurfaced, even more soused, deciding once more that the middle of a bustling road was an ideal napping spot, much to the chagrin of the day’s commuters.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only adventure that has captured Pattaya’s attention. Under the watchful eyes of Lieutenant Colonel Phanupong Nimsuwann, the local authorities have been cracking down on rogue street vendors, whose slow-moving three-wheeled carts habitually clog the arteries of Pattaya’s roads, especially the ever-popular Beach Road. Conducted in a style more akin to a high-action drama, officers took proactive steps late on Sunday, June 22, dishing out fines and on-the-spot penalties to keep the city’s roads clear.

This unusual British interlude, while the latest in road-side curiosities, reminds us that Pattaya’s vibrant streets are never short on surprises, be they the antics of a restless Brit or the daily hustle and bustle of bahn mi carts vying for prime real estate. The overarching message for tourists: the roads of Pattaya may look inviting, but perhaps should stay reserved for substances and vehicles of the car variety, rather than the human.

With proactive policing and a touch of patience, the city’s guardians continue their efforts to prevent the symphony of sirens and honking horns from becoming the soundtrack of their beautiful city. Though its roads may have seen more eccentricity than the average, Pattaya buzzes on, a city that certainly never sleeps, though perhaps some of its travelers should!

What a wild story! How does a legless man even end up blocking a whole street from drinking too much?

    • travelbug89 June 26, 2025

It’s all fun until you disrupt traffic. Drunk tourists should be held accountable.

      • Jane Doe June 26, 2025

I agree, but it also sounds like an unusual case. Perhaps more needs to be done to help such tourists.

      • Michael June 26, 2025

It’s not just the tourists. The authorities should also manage such situations better.

  2. Eddie L. June 26, 2025

This is why I avoid tourist hotspots. When you’ve got scenes like this, who needs a soap opera?

    • Lucy76 June 26, 2025

Exactly! It sounds more like a circus than a city.

    • Eddie L. June 26, 2025

Pattaya is infamous for its chaos. Curious why people still go there.

  3. Sophia June 26, 2025

The man should have been assisted with more compassion instead of being laughed at. It’s sad.

    • Gerry54 June 26, 2025

Compassion? He was stopping people from getting home. Sometimes a strong stance is needed.

      • Sophia June 26, 2025

Sure, but dignity should always be maintained, regardless of the situation.

  4. Greg T. June 26, 2025

This whole story is ridiculous. It’s a shame the real news gets lost in stories like this.

  5. johnnyreb13 June 26, 2025

It seems like the wilder your antics, the more famous you get. Give him a medal!

    • Anna C June 26, 2025

That’s exactly the wrong message! We shouldn’t glorify such behavior.

      • johnnyreb13 June 26, 2025

I’m joking, but this does highlight how much attention bizarre behavior gets.

  6. Oscar H June 26, 2025

Laugh all you want, but this guy could have been seriously hurt lying in the road. Safety first!

  7. Pat June 26, 2025

I was in Pattaya last year, and it’s not surprising. The city is hectic and attracts all kinds.

  8. TravelerSam June 26, 2025

I’ve seen similar antics in other tourist-heavy cities. People just lose their senses on holiday.

  9. Jenny567 June 26, 2025

I feel sorry for the drivers caught in that mess. All that stress because someone decided to nap.

  10. Elise June 26, 2025

Tourism brings revenue, but also problems. I hope people are more respectful when abroad.

  11. Larry Davis June 26, 2025

I find it hard to believe the police had to burrito wrap him. Sounds like an exaggeration.

  12. Steph June 26, 2025

Sounds like a comedy show! Glad no one was hurt, though this shouldn’t be taken lightly.

  13. TravelQueen23 June 26, 2025

I think Pattaya’s less about the place these days and more about the stories you bring back.

    • James B. June 26, 2025

And this is quite the story! You’ve got to have tales to tell when you return home.

  14. retro4life June 26, 2025

Pattaya needs a reform—both in tourists’ behavior and local response. Too crazy.

  15. Danny June 26, 2025

This is why strict alcohol zones should be in place. Keep the chaos controlled.

    • Fiona June 26, 2025

Not going to lie, that’s actually a good idea. Might solve a lot of these issues.

  16. Sam R. June 26, 2025

I just hope the guy gets help. Alcohol can lead to some serious life issues.

    • Helen T June 26, 2025

Absolutely, this should be a wake-up call for him. And a warning for others.

  17. Grower134 June 26, 2025

Honestly, Pattaya always seemed like a wild place. This just proves it.
