Natthida’s Battle Against Bangkok’s Cunning Motorcycle Taxi Scammer

In a tale almost too wild to believe, a Thai woman has turned Bangkok’s bustling streets into her personal playground, cunningly outwitting at least three motorcycle taxi riders. As the city’s pulses synced to its usual vibrant rhythm, this elusive character orchestrated a series of bamboozling exploits, leaving one recent victim lighter by 2,300 baht. This sneaky escapade unwittingly entwined with the life of Natthida, a hardworking salon owner near the iconic Victory Monument.

Natthida, in a bid to prevent others from falling prey to this charade, took the digital podium on Facebook to sound the alarm. Her post, an SOS to fellow motorcycle taxi operators, splashed across the virtual realm, shedding light on the scammer who dared to impersonate her and defraud the unsuspecting riders. In a display of audacious fashion, the fraudster cloaked herself in an ensemble of grey and pink suit, accessorized with glasses—crafted to ooze trustworthiness while concealing intentions as slippery as a buttered eel.

This master of masquerades adeptly snuggled into the routine of her selected targets. With routes plotting from bustling districts—Din Daeng, Asoke, Huai Khwang, and Pratunam—each journey seemed mundane until it ended at Natthida’s salon. There, the scammer enacted a meticulously rehearsed ritual, briefly stepping into the premises before quickly vanishing, often leaving behind promises as empty as an unattended garden path.

Through crafty subterfuge, she spun tales of hair-dye appointments abandoned due to forgotten belongings or inquiries into price lists, all fabricating an eventual encore that would never occur. Akin to a theatrical performance, each act heightened the suspense until the final exit, where motives were laid bare.

The plot thickened when earlier this year, the masquerader made her debut appearance. Claiming ownership of the salon, she initiated a tango with the motorcycle services, slipping away without settling the fare, leaving the rider at Natthida’s doorstep demanding payout. Emboldened by her heist, the imposter repeated her act, this time extending her deceit beyond just a free ride.

Arriving at a shopping mall on the pretense of business errands for the salon, she invoked sympathy, borrowing 1,500 baht from the driver, claiming a lack of cash. With a Houdini-like finesse, she melted into the city’s labyrinth and was never seen again—or so she thought.

The third curtain call on April 24 upped the ante. Masquerading once more as a salon employee, she flagged down yet another motorcycle taxi. Her charisma and ability to engender trust all culminated in borrowing an augmented sum of 2,300 baht. Like previous escapades, she executed her vanishing act, leaving victims like characters on the cusp of a whodunit mystery—bewildered and bemused.

The latest victim, determined to unmask this rogue, sought justice at the Din Daeng Police Station. However, as Bangkok hummed with its ceaseless pace, justice lagged behind, the sirens of Channel 7 crowning this saga with a cliffhanger: the culprit, ever elusive, remained out of the legal grasp.

This is insane! I can’t believe someone could pull this off multiple times. Why didn’t the police catch her yet?

    • Claire R May 8, 2025

Yes, it’s mind-boggling. It seems like the authorities aren’t as efficient as they should be.

      • Joe May 8, 2025

True, but it sounds like she’s quite the manipulator. Maybe they’re just having a hard time finding her.

Why are people so gullible, honestly? First rule of lending money: no cash without significant collateral.

    • Sophia_89 May 8, 2025

That’s easier said than done, Larry. In the moment, with her whole outfit and demeanor, I can see how people might get fooled.

      • Larry Davis May 8, 2025

Hmm, I suppose if someone seems genuinely in need… but still, it’s a lesson learned — hopefully.

I think Natthida’s efforts on Facebook are commendable! Using social media to warn others is really smart.

    • Electron_tomo May 8, 2025

Totally agree! It’s a great way to spread information quickly. I hope more people see her post.

Isn’t impersonation a serious crime? How has she not been caught with all these stunts?

    • Gina Z. May 8, 2025

You’re right, it should be taken seriously. Maybe her scams aren’t deemed high priority by the police, which is a shame.

      • Byron55 May 8, 2025

That’s a frustrating thought. People like her exploit this kind of laxity.

  5. KidFromBK May 8, 2025

How does this even happen? Don’t the drivers ask for payment upfront?

    • Lisa T May 8, 2025

Not always. A lot of rideshare services rely on trust. These dystopian stories will make drivers more cautious though!

  6. Naomi May 8, 2025

I think the scammer is just clever. We have to accept that some people are expert manipulators.

    • RandyJ May 8, 2025

But that doesn’t excuse the lack of responsibility from the enforcement officers in catching her!

      • Naomi May 8, 2025

Absolutely, accountability is needed. Her cleverness only highlights the failure in the system.

This could be a movie plot for sure. A con artist navigating busy cities, always one step ahead.

  8. GreenPalace123 May 8, 2025

It’s interesting how much trust people still have despite all the tech around us that’s supposed to prevent such scams.

  9. Fran May 8, 2025

2,300 baht isn’t a small amount! Why would she keep going back to the same spot to scam?

  10. CyberKeith May 8, 2025

She seems to know just how far she can push before getting caught. True sign of a seasoned scammer.

  11. ChoosesWisely May 8, 2025

It’s like watching a train wreck unfold—horrific but can’t look away. The audacity!

  12. Karen_in_Thailand May 8, 2025

Absolutely nuts, but let’s be fair, scammers evolve with their environment.

  13. ZaraM May 8, 2025

Can’t help but admire the sort of guts it takes. But she’s giving decent folks a bad name, especially businesswomen!

  14. SunnySalesman May 8, 2025

I wonder if she has other personas in different areas? Could be a nationwide hustle!

    • TravelGreg May 8, 2025

That’s a scary thought, Sunny. If she’s that mobile, she might be uncatchable.

  15. Jules May 8, 2025

Everyone loves a good hustle story until they’re the victim. Stick together people. Safety in numbers!
