Pigeon Drama in Suphan Buri: Duangkamon’s Resilient Story Amid Roof Collapse

In a bizarre incident that took an unexpectedly feathered turn, tranquility turned to chaos in the sleepy town of Si Prachan in Suphan Buri province. The serene afternoon took an unexpected nosedive as two feathered intruders collided with a second-floor window, leading to a roof collapse in a decades-old rented home, injuring one of its residents.

Meet Duangkamon, a resilient 40-year-old who now has quite the story to tell. It all began as she was unwinding in front of her house, presumably basking in the simplicity of the day while the world flowed at its usual humdrum pace. Out of nowhere, like a scene from a suspense movie with a plot twist nobody saw coming, two pigeons decided to make an explosive cameo, hurtling themselves against a window with reckless abandon.

The impact of the birds’ window bash was more dramatic than anyone could have imagined. Moments later, parts of the roof, loyal to gravity’s insistence, gave way. As the dust settled, so to speak, Duangkamon found herself pinned under layers of tangled debris—a mix of wood and shattered roof tiles. Despite sustaining injuries to her leg, shoulder, and back, and sporting a dramatic laceration courtesy of falling tiles, her spirit remains unbroken.

Unfortunately, this unbelievable encounter rendered Duangkamon unable to move, leaving her quite literally under the weathered roof of her home. Thankfully, her sister-in-law swiftly came to the rescue, providing the much-needed lift to the hospital, propelling Duangkamon on her road to recovery.

For over two decades, Duangkamon’s family had found solace in this vintage two-storey home, made of hearty wood and defiant concrete, in a dance of rustic charm and durability. At around 1,200 baht a month, the house had served them well, weathering the tempests of ferocious thunderstorms without a hitch—until yesterday, that is.

The plot thickens when you delve into the history of the quaint abode. It turns out that the owner, Prajob Srimueng, once lavished her property with some refurbishment love, in response to the tenants’ pleas. Despite this, the claws of termites had etched their signatures within the wood, a silent testament to the inevitable embrace of time. The roof, that critical overhead ensemble, might also have shared their pest-eaten fate unbeknownst to all.

Prajob, moved by the unforeseen and unfortunate turn of events, promised swift action. The construction cavalry will ride in, and any cracks in this tale of bricks and beams will be mended. In the meantime, Duangkamon and her family can draw comfort in the assurance of temporary cozy lodgings while home sweet home gets its much-needed fixer-upper.

This tale serves as a vivid reminder that even the most familiar scenarios can turn topsy-turvy with the unexpected theatrics of a couple of wayward pigeons! Here’s to Duangkamon’s swift recovery and the restoration of her family’s nest, where they can continue weaving their stories—hopefully minus the feathered fiascoes!

Can you believe the roof came down just like that? How weak must the structure have been for a couple of birds to bring it down?

It sounds like the house was already falling apart. Those termites probably did more damage than anyone realized.

      • Larry D July 15, 2025

True, but wouldn’t regular maintenance catch those issues early? This seems like neglect to me.

I think it just goes to show how unexpected life can be! Who thinks pigeons crashing into windows would cause this?!

      • Larry D July 15, 2025

Exactly, Ravi! It’s a strange chain of events leading to disaster.

      • Marie_Creative July 15, 2025

This is why it’s important to check your premises regularly!

This should be a wake-up call about the state of buildings everywhere. We’re lucky no one was seriously hurt this time.

    • Kaitlyn.Smith July 15, 2025

Agreed, but aren’t pigeons protected in some areas? They sometimes nest on old buildings causing structural issues.

This story actually made me chuckle a bit. It’s like a scene from a comedy movie!

    • SciFi4Life July 15, 2025

Right? Almost hard to believe this actually happened!

I hope Duangkamon gets compensation for her injuries. Whether it was her fault or not, it’s a distressful situation.

    • John Q. Public July 15, 2025

You’re right, Joe. But knowing how the system works, I’m doubtful she’ll get much.

      • Joe July 15, 2025

It’d be unfortunate if she didn’t. Who pays for these medical bills?

  5. Marina July 15, 2025

I’m glad they’re getting temporary lodgings. Duangkamon’s family deserved better upkeep from the landlord.

  6. Ally July 15, 2025

I wonder what happened to the pigeons? Did they survive?

  7. Franklin99 July 15, 2025

This is why I always say we need to prioritize infrastructure over aesthetics. Those repairs were just a patch, clearly not enough.

    • NatureLover23 July 15, 2025

But don’t you think it gives the home its character? I find older homes charming despite the risks.

    • FTW5678 July 15, 2025

They’re only charming until the roof literally falls on you! Safety first.

This should be a lesson for landlords about maintaining their property. You never know what might happen!

    • Derek July 15, 2025

Totally agree. It’s always ‘unexpected’ until something goes wrong!

  9. JackieM July 15, 2025

I just can’t get over the mental image of two pigeons causing such chaos. Nature is powerful in the most unexpected ways.

No one talks about the lifelong impacts these kinds of accidents can have. It must be terrifying for Duangkamon every time she hears birds now.

    • Graeme_L July 15, 2025

You’re right. Trauma can stem from the strangest incidents, and we need to be more aware of mental health impacts too.

      • Bert_42 July 15, 2025

Exactly, Graeme. Physical and emotional recovery should both be priorities.

Perhaps this is a sign for the family to move somewhere better. There’s opportunity in adversity if you look at it the right way.
