Esteemed TV personality Kanchai Kamnerdploy recently found himself at the centre of controversy facing charges of defamation. The accuser, esteemed university lecturer Weerachai Phutthawong, is resolute in his decision to vindicate himself in court. This contentious issue, which caught the public’s attention yesterday, is primarily derived from constant online derision and claims of mobster-like conduct.
Weerachai is an honoured faculty member of the Chemistry Department within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the prestigious Kasetsart University. His stern determination to exonerate himself is evident in his endeavour to challenge the lawsuit in court.
The disagreement first came to public light when Kanchai, a highly popular TV presenter, announced on a public platform that he was facing defamation charges. He pointed out an unidentified renowned professor, accusing him of incessant online mockery that included offensive remarks and allegations of mob involvement. This unexpected revelation intensified the pre-existing tense environment, shocking many.
Following the charge, the professor, fondly known as Professor Aud, took to his Facebook page to share his viewpoint. He declared, “Greetings, I’m Professor Aud. I am keen on having the court accept the lawsuit to enable us to substantiate our claims in the courthouse. The time is now ripe for both parties to produce their supporting evidence and witnesses.”
Remarkably, Weerachai affirmed that he never had any intentions of initiating legal action against the young celebrity. He conceded, “I didn’t consider suing him initially. I was trying to exercise patience. However, he has sued me on two counts and filed complaints on five additional ones.”
Weerachai remains firm in his commitment to validate his innocence in court. He affirms that after Kanchai’s lawsuit concludes, it will be his opportunity to illuminate the truth. He added, “We shall see what arises about false accusations, manipulation of others into receiving punishment, or filing wrongful lawsuits.”
Hinting that their disagreement was far from the finish line, the professor encouraged those interested in the background of their feud to refer to the news broadcasted on Channel 3 on January 19 earlier this year, and October 25, 2022, as reported by KhaoSod. As he chillingly warned, “The battle is ongoing, refrain from totalling the casualties.”
