In the bustling streets of Bangkok, amidst the vibrant tapestry of life, an unusual tale has captivated the city. At the heart of it is a transgender fortune teller, dramatically denying claims of defrauding and sexually assaulting a young boy. Serm, as she is known, refutes the allegations with fervor, embroiling herself in a storm of controversy that has now gripped the public’s attention.

The curious case began when a 16-year-old boy, struggling with teenage angst over his girlfriend, was drawn into the world of fortune-telling. Encouraged by a classmate, he sought Serm’s mystical counsel, venturing to her premises on bustling Rama II Road. The initial encounter, which set him back 5,000 baht, apparently left him enchanted by her supposed insights. Spellbound, he found himself returning repeatedly, driven by the allure of spiritual advice and the promise of enchanted amulets.

According to the boy, what started as innocent visits quickly spiraled into a saga of steep financial sacrifice. Desperate to fund the esoteric rituals prescribed by Serm, he went so far as to sell his mobile phone and computer. There’s even an account of a sacred tattoo, a symbol now scorched into his skin, obtained at her guidance. Instructed to keep this part of his life hidden from his parents, the young boy soon found himself tied into a web he struggled to extricate himself from.

The relationship took a disturbing turn when Serm invited him to her apartment, suggesting a ritual to boost his fortunes. There, the narrative takes a peculiar twist. The boy claims he was instructed to disrobe before gold leaves were allegedly placed across his body, even on intimate areas. Serm, insisting she was a conduit for a sacred spirit, asserted control, ordering him in what she claimed was the spirit’s own voice. But as the boy soon discovered, no ritual could salvage his failing romantic relationship, leaving him isolated and plunging into the depths of depression.

His distraught mother, eager to understand her son’s sudden melancholy, uncovered the hidden story after reaching out to his ex-girlfriend. Alarmed and determined to prevent others from experiencing a similar fate, she sought out the renowned lawyer Ronnarong Kaewphet to sound the alarm.

Unmoved by these revelations, Serm vehemently denies all the accusations in an interview with ThaiRath. She acknowledges receiving payments for her mystical services, claiming they amounted to no more than 200,000 baht, far less than the 500,000 baht alleged. She insists that no records were kept of these transactions. Serm is defiant, stating that her career of over 30 years has never before been tarnished by scandal.

The discrepancies in their accounts remain a matter for the law. Ronnarong has indicated that Serm’s actions could potentially breach Thailand’s Criminal Law and the Child Protection Act. As of now, the police have yet to initiate any formal proceedings, leaving the case shrouded in uncertainty and the public eagerly awaiting the unfolding of this tale.

The story, unfolding like a dramatic telenovela, has made waves across Thailand, casting a spotlight on the murky world of fortune-telling and the vulnerable individuals it often ensnares. As the saga continues, audiences are left to ponder the intertwined themes of belief, manipulation, and the quest for answers in a bustling metropolis where life’s mysteries often blur the line between reality and the supernatural.

How does this even happen? People need to be more cautious about who they trust, especially with something as sensitive as their future.

    • Emily P. May 6, 2025

Trust can be a powerful thing, especially for someone who’s feeling lost. It’s a shame that people exploit that.

      • Jack1978 May 6, 2025

True, but personal responsibility has to play a part. People need to protect themselves from cons.

  2. Maya May 6, 2025

While I agree that manipulation is wrong, I think we should also examine why people feel the need to turn to fortune-tellers in the first place.

  3. Sara Lee May 6, 2025

This is just another example of why practices like fortune-telling should be more regulated.

    • TommyB May 6, 2025

Regulations won’t stop people from falling for things they believe in, unfortunately.

      • Sara Lee May 6, 2025

Regulation at least provides a framework for accountability. It wouldn’t solve everything, but it’s a step in the right direction.

People have been consulting mystics for centuries. If the boy consented and no harm was intended, is it really a crime?

    • Penelope S. May 6, 2025

But it involves a minor and possible coercion. It’s a delicate matter that definitely deserves a closer look.

Seems like Serm is quite a character! I mean, 30 years without a blemish, and now this? Suspicious timing.

These fortune-telling businesses make so much money off of people’s insecurities. It’s an industry that thrives on human desperation and ignorance.

    • Olivia K May 6, 2025

It’s true, but sometimes these businesses really help people find a type of peace or hope.

I feel for the boy. Imagine having your heartbreak compounded by something so exploitative.

    • AnneB May 6, 2025

Yeah, the emotional toll must be huge. I hope he gets the support he needs.

At the end of the day, we’re talking about a powerful narrative that captures public imagination more than actual facts. Let the law handle it!

  9. Katie89 May 6, 2025

Stories like these remind us how vulnerable humans can be. So sad that people’s trust can lead to exploitation.

It’s also a reminder of the blurred lines between seeking help and being vulnerable to deceit.

The details of this case are so bizarre, it almost feels like an epic movie plot.

This is why critical thinking needs to be taught early. People must learn to question rather than just believe.

    • Alex Foster May 6, 2025

Agreed, but people also need to be respected for their beliefs. It’s a fine line.

  12. Lucas B May 6, 2025

Everyone is quick to judge, but the truth might be more complex. We should wait for the legal process to unfold.

  13. Jenny17 May 6, 2025

Serm sounds like they made a career of taking advantage of the weak and desperate. Disgusting.

    • Sam D May 6, 2025

It does seem predatory, doesn’t it? But shouldn’t we hear both sides before passing judgment?

      • Jenny17 May 6, 2025

Sure, but the kid’s story is disturbing, and I think we should take his claims seriously.

  14. Bert May 6, 2025

There’s a fine line between fraud and faith in such sensitive cases. Authorities should ensure justice while respecting cultural differences.
