In a dazzling tribute to Frieze Seoul, JAI by ONESIAM, the visionary platform from Siam Piwat Group renowned for forging luxury and influential communities, hosted its second global extravaganza outside Bangkok. This time, the iconic Korea Furniture Museum in Seoul served as the backdrop for an elegant evening of exclusivity.

JAI by ONESIAM is a passport to priceless experiences and privileges worldwide. Each event is meticulously curated by international peers and industry luminaries. The exclusive gathering for 60 elites was graced by global superstars such as Lee Minho (of Boys Over Flowers and Pachinko fame), Lee Jung Jae (recognized for Star Wars and Squid Game), esteemed actress Joomi Park (Beautiful Seoul, Ladies of the Palace), and Thailand’s Ambassador to Korea, His Excellency Tanee Sangrat.

Add to this illustrious list some of Korea’s eminent entrepreneurs and society icons—Lim Saeryung, Vice President of Daesang Group; Lee Taesung, CEO of Seah Holding; and Kim Hankook, CEO of Gentle Monster. They mingled with international high-fliers like socialite Eva Chow (Khee Soju) and Frieze Global Director Simon Fox. Renowned designer Teo Yang from Teo Yang Studio joined this distinguished crowd along with Thai guests such as Marisa Chearavanont, Kulapat Yantrasast, Nittha Kuhapremkit, and others.

“Siam Piwat has always strived to deliver extraordinary experiences to our valued JAI by ONESIAM members. This exclusive evening marks a significant achievement in fostering connections that transcend borders, celebrating our aligned values with global partners,” enthused Siam Piwat Group’s CEO, Chadatip Chutrakul.

The event was orchestrated alongside The Hyundai, Siam Piwat Group’s global experience partner. Jung Jee Young, President and Co-CEO of Hyundai Department Store, emphasized, “Our collaboration with Siam Piwat aims to offer our clients a plethora of meaningful experiences. By merging traditional culture with modern innovation, we endeavor to enrich the lives of our customers.”

JAI by ONESIAM’s Extraordinary Experiences

As guests stepped into the iconic Korea Furniture Museum, they were greeted by traditional Korean musicians set against a picturesque village showcasing ten exquisite ‘Hanok’ houses, reflective of the Joseon dynasty’s nobility. The tour continued through the museum’s palatial main building, housing over 2,500 pieces of rare furniture from the owner’s private collection, culminating in a private dining hall extravagantly curated by museum owner Chyung Mi-sook.

The evening’s pièce de résistance was a sumptuous six-course dinner themed ‘Journey Without Borders,’ a collaboration among culinary maestros: Michelin-starred chefs Jungsik Yim (Jungsik Seoul and Jungsik New York), Wilfrid Hocquet (Blue by Alain Ducasse), and Dej Kewkacha (Kyo Bangkok). Chef Jungsik Yim curated the cold starter, injecting modern flair into traditional Korean dishes, leading to the creation of Jungsik Seoul’s signature dish, ‘Gimbap’, crafted from only the finest ingredients.

Chef Jungsik Yim elaborated on his part of the culinary symphony, “This is an unprecedented collaboration, blending multiple culinary traditions. For the main course, I infused Tom Yum flavors from Thailand with Korean beef, employing French techniques, and complemented it with Tom Yum Risotto—melding diverse cultures into one dish.”

The remarkable evening was further embellished by Gentle Monster, the iconic Korean eyewear brand. CEO Kim Hankook crafted exclusive metallic mementos, allowing JAI by ONESIAM attendees to redeem any eyewear at Gentle Monster outlets globally without financial constraints.

“Gentle Monster dedicates itself to creating experiences that celebrate individuality and defy norms. Partnering with JAI by ONESIAM was natural—fusing art, culture, and innovation. Our specially crafted gifts for this grand event symbolize our shared vision of a borderless journey in luxury and style,” stated Kim Hankook.

The night concluded with photographs alongside celebrities and a networking session that buzzed with plans for future JAI by ONESIAM happenings. Guests also relished the breathtaking gardens of the museum.

Paulie Sirisant, CEO of Vibal Corporation and one of JAI by ONESIAM’s founding members, remarked, “The ‘Journey Without Borders’ event was utterly magical. I am profoundly honored to be a member and enjoy these unparalleled benefits.”

Thanavalai Vacharaphol, COO of Thairath Online, shared her enthusiasm, “I’m thrilled by the diverse and incredible people JAI brings together. Meeting and connecting with talents from various industries promises exciting collaborations. JAI is always a delightful surprise, and this event epitomizes its spirit.”

This sounds like an incredible event, but it’s just a little too elitist for my taste. Isn’t it alienating to host such exclusive gatherings?

    • alex_g September 9, 2024

I think exclusivity is the point. It’s about creating high-value experiences for people who can appreciate and afford them.

      • Jane Doe September 9, 2024

But doesn’t that just create a bigger gap between the rich and the rest of us? Luxury shouldn’t be the only standard of value.

It’s aspirational. These events inspire people to strive for more. Plus, it promotes culture and innovation.

Celebrity culture is overrated. These events should focus more on art and culture rather than just star power.

While I get your point, celebrities help draw attention and give these events broader appeal. It’s a win-win.

True, but they might mean it metaphorically—about connecting different cultures and ideas rather than literal access for everyone.

Point taken, but still feels a bit off when it’s only accessible to a select few.
