The Move Forward party is eagerly seeking the chance to establish a government without any external interference, according to Jurin, who spoke with reporters at a recent Nation TV anniversary event. Jurin emphasized that he had not delegated anyone to contact other parties regarding a potential coalition partnership.
By teaming up with seven other parties, Move Forward has successfully formed a coalition that currently controls 313 of the 500 seats in the House of Representatives. This impressive accomplishment resulted from the strategic alliance formed following the May 14th vote.
Despite their triumph, Jurin acknowledged that the ongoing dispute between the two major parties within the coalition, Pheu Thai and Move Forward, has caught the public’s eye and generated uncertainty surrounding the coalition’s future. The media has been closely following a disagreement between some members of both parties over which party will secure the highly sought-after role of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In an effort to quell this ambiguity, Jurin called on the Election Commission to officially announce the results of the May 14th election. Unofficial figures revealed the Democrats’ diminishing influence, with the party only securing 25 seats—the lowest number in its history.
Following this significant blow, Jurin stepped down as the party’s leader. After his resignation, Jurin emphasized that the party’s future leader must be committed to driving it forward. The decision regarding the next leader will ultimately be made by the party’s upcoming executive committee, the majority of whom will be Members of Parliament, Jurin confirmed. As the Move Forward party continues its journey into a new era under fresh leadership, all eyes will be on its ability to resolve disputes and maintain a strong coalition presence within the political landscape.
