One can almost hear the distant hum of planes and the hustle of travelers when visiting the bustling Suvarnabhumi airport in Samut Prakan province. Gatways to different worlds, airports are often pulsating with anticipation. Yet, one particular terminal has been causing quite a stir lately, and it’s the satellite terminal SAT-1. It stands as an embodiment of progress and the evolving face of aviation in the region.
Suvarnabhumi Airport’s authorities have confirmed that the third and conclusive full-scale trial operation of the terminal was carried out successfully. Comfortably navigated during peak nighttime hours from 8pm to midnight, this simulation aimed to ensure that the terminal’s nighttime operations, distinct from its daytime functionality, were up to the mark. The focus was primarily on the outbound passenger process operation.
AVisionary at its helm, Mr.Kittipong Kittikachorn, the director of Suvarnabhumi airport, stated that all the systems involved in ensuring a smooth passage for passengers, including essential support systems like lighting at service points, were scrutinized meticulously during the trial.
What made this endeavor even more commendable was the spirit of collaboration. The trial was made possible with the assistance of Thai Vietjet, which graciously provided their aircraft, crew, ground service equipment, and staff for the trial operation. Moreover, multiple stakeholders including immigration police, customs officials, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, and the Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Plc, came forth with immense support and commitment which fuelled the trial operation.
The third full-scale trial operation now brings the SAT-1 terminal on the runway for its soft opening. Every piece of advice and feedback collected from the concerned individuals throughout the trial operations would be harnessed to fine-tune the terminal operations and grant passengers an unmatched experience, come soft opening date on the 28th of September.
SAT-1 is truly a spectacle – a magnificent structure sprawling across 216,000 square meters. The terminal boasts an impressive lineup of 28 aircraft parking bays and is fortified with state-of-the-art technology to make the boarding process a breeze. Designed to align with the airport’s expansion plans, SAT-1 is set to be a game-changer in the aviation industry.
