The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has launched a heartwarming initiative titled “United Hearts to Provide Clean Water to Schools Honouring His Majesty the King on the Auspicious Occasion of His 72nd Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024.” This commendable project involves inspecting and analyzing the water quality in over 740 schools across the nation, aiming to enhance both the quality of life and hygiene for students through the provision of clean drinking water.
Chakapong Kamchan, the Deputy Governor (Operations 2) and Acting Governor of PWA, shed light on the inspiration behind this initiative. He recounted the timeless wisdom of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, who once said, “Water is life.” His Majesty emphasized that drinking water, water for use, and water for cultivation are crucial, as life depends on water. “If there is water, people can live. Without water, people cannot live. Without electricity, people can still live. But if there is electricity without water, people cannot live,” he said. This profound principle is being championed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (Rama X) to continually improve the quality of life for the people.
On the momentous occasion of His Majesty’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024, the PWA, a state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior, has collaborated with various relevant agencies to roll out the project “United Hearts to Provide Clean Water to Schools Honouring His Majesty the King.” This initiative aims to ensure that students have consistent access to clean, safe, and standard drinking water in their schools. To achieve this, the PWA will inspect and analyze the water quality through rigorous testing for physical, chemical, and bacterial aspects, adhering strictly to the drinking water quality certification criteria from the Department of Health and WHO standards. This initiative not only promotes better hygiene and health but also helps reduce financial burdens for parents and students.
Mr. Chakapong further detailed that PWA will be inspecting the water quality in schools within its service areas, spanning all 74 provinces and covering at least 740 schools nationwide. By doing so, the initiative is set to significantly enhance the quality of life and promote good hygiene practices among schoolchildren through the access to clean drinking water.

This is such a noble cause. Clean water is a basic human right and essential for kids to thrive!
I totally agree. It’s about time more initiatives like this exist. Clean water can change lives dramatically.
It’s good but shouldn’t the government already have ensured clean water in schools? Why did it take a royal birthday to initiate this?
You have a point, Meera. But at least it’s happening now. Better late than never, right?
Exactly, Anna! Let’s hope this is a step toward more permanent solutions for all schools.
While this is a great project, I can’t help but think it’s largely a PR stunt. The government should focus on sustainable solutions, not just symbolic gestures.
Isn’t it incredible how something as simple as clean water can make such a big difference?
True, but the fact that it’s such a big issue also highlights other underlying problems in the system, don’t you think?
Absolutely, Kim. I guess it just shows we have a lot of work to do in so many areas.
I wonder how they will ensure ongoing maintenance. Clean water systems need consistent maintenance to stay effective.
Good point, Sarah. Implementing the system is one thing, but maintaining it is another.
It’s commendable to honor the King this way but shouldn’t we also push for policies that ensure equal access to resources for everyone?
Kevin, I couldn’t agree more. Equal access is the foundation of a fair society.
Why is clean water still an issue in 2024? It feels like a basic necessity that should have been solved long ago.
This is exactly the kind of effort we need! Finally, action is being taken.
I agree, Manny. Proactive steps are always welcome.
As much as I appreciate the effort, let’s not lose sight of the fact that this should be the norm, not an exception.
Exactly, Daniel. Until clean water is guaranteed for all, this remains a bandaid solution.
But even bandaid solutions can make a difference in the short term.
I hope this project inspires similar actions worldwide. Clean water should be a priority everywhere.
Here’s to hoping, Lily. Every step counts toward global change.
This initiative follows the wisdom of King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. His focus on water has always been inspiring.
Yes, and it’s amazing to see King Rama X continuing that legacy.
Absolutely, Tommy. Continuity in vision is crucial for long-term progress.
Beyond clean water, we should also pay attention to water conservation and sustainable management. It’s all interconnected.
Let’s hope this isn’t just a one-time thing. Schools and communities need continuous support.
Agreed! Ongoing investment is necessary to make a lasting impact.
Any move towards better water quality is a positive one, but it should become a universal standard, not just selective implementation.
This effort is good, but focusing only on schools might miss out on other areas that desperately need clean water too.
True, but schools are a good starting point considering the impact on children’s health and education.
It’s great to see respect for the King translating into real benefits for the people.
While this project is commendable, we also need to target the root causes of water contamination.
I hope other sectors get inspired by this initiative to take similar actions.
Clean water is crucial for learning. Students can’t perform well if they are dealing with water-borne diseases.
I wonder what kind of testing methodologies they will use. WHO standards are pretty stringent.
Finally, some good news! Clean water is a game-changer for so many kids.
