In the realm of consumer alert news, Panda Lab, a notable medical technology firm, has blown the whistle on a burgeoning travel con, reporting a figure of over 50 million baht swindled successful from unsuspecting travellers. These revelations, unveiled on Panda Lab’s Facebook page, target a high-profile tourism webpage belatedly finding fame not for its services, but for its alleged fraudulent practices. The Consumer Organisation Council has laid down multiple avenues for victims to voice out their concerns and complaints.
As per the report uploaded by Panda Lab, several travellers, initially excited about their planned trips, suffered the disappointment of their tours being deferred. But the real nightmare began when they attempted to cancel their bookings. Not only were their requests for cancellations overlooked, more importantly, they were denied the accompanying reimbursement, culminating in a massive loss exceeding 50 million baht.
The post, an ominous warning to potential travel enthusiasts, has since gone viral on social media with an excess of 400 shares to its name. Panda Lab’s hard-hitting report reads, “Many attempted to rearrange their plans after the initially booked tour was postponed. But, the company, infamous rather than famous now, has refused to entertain any requests for cancellations, holding onto the customer’s money ‘tightly’. Hundreds have suffered at the hands of this scam, resulting in a total loss north of 50 million baht.”
Further critiques ensue in the post, accusing the tour company of ignoring messages, disabling comments, neglecting Line messages, and steadfastly refusing refunds. Instead, the company invested efforts in defending its conduct on alternate platforms.
As these grim tales circulate, the Consumer Organisation Council has also flagged the beleaguered webpage. Tour seekers are recommended to tread cautiously while dealing with this now ‘popular’ page, as more than just their travel plans could be at stake. The council is extending its support to the victims, urging them to utilise the numerous provided channels to lodge their complaints.
The Consumer Organisation Council has laid out multiple means for victims to file complaints and seek redress:
- Visit the official website tcc.or.th to lodge a complaint.
- Reach out via the Official Line channel: @tccthailand.
- Message through the Facebook Inbox: Consumer Organisation Council.
- Email your concerns to: contactcenter[email protected]
- Or dial: 02 239 1839, and press 1.
To aid in a robust investigation, the council recommends victims collate the following evidence:
- Any conversation entailing agreement to purchase or book a tour.
- Proof of money transfer.
- Receipts or any other evidence of tour booking from the company.
- Advertisement visuals promoting the tour booking.
A stern cautionary tale, this story warns the unsuspecting traveller about the potential pitfalls. Stay vigilant, stay safe, and demand transparency!
