Thailand’s traditional medicine facilities offer cannabis treatments

More than 40 years after the government legalized and decriminalized cannabis, it is now used to cure ailments in Thailand. Thailand legalized medical marijuana in 2018. Cannabis is used in cooking and treatment in Thailand. Thai Healing Arts Institute calls marijuana a “analgesic and sedative.” Cannabis’ medical use was banned by the 1979 Narcotics Act, ending traditional Thai herbal medicine. In June 2022, Thailand removed marijuana from its list of banned narcotics, allowing medical research.
