Determined to resolve the matter, Thanatat explained that due to the parcel being unboxed, he couldn’t accept it as a return. He advised Pimonnart to either make the payment or contact the seller to address her grievances. Not one to shirk his responsibility, Thanatat headed back to Pimonnart’s home to collect the payment.
What happened next was far from routine. As Thanatat was preparing to give back the change, he found himself facing an unexpected threat. Surasit, Pimonnart’s 27-year-old husband, reportedly launched an assault, wielding a knife with alarming aggression. Caught off guard, Thanatat suffered severe slash wounds to his forehead, left arm, chest, and left ear. To the delivery worker’s horror, Pimonnart also participated in the assault, pushing him in the chest and kicking his leg, leaving him struggling to escape.
Miraculously, Thanatat managed to flee and sought medical attention for his injuries, which required no less than 24 stitches. It was a brutal encounter for a man simply trying to do his job.
The incident quickly gained attention, with Superintendent Phitchayut Kosum of the Amphawa Police Station advising that initial attempts to mediate between the parties were futile.
