In a strategic alliance to bolster cybersecurity education and awareness, the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) is joining forces with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to launch the ‘Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2023’. Scheduled to unfold in a popular game show – Jeopardy – styled competition, Capture the Flag (CTF), the contest is intended to spur passion among young talent and the general public in the challenging realm of cybersecurity. The initiative is more than just a competition; it offers a platform to learn, refine, and amplify cybersecurity expertise to prepare the aspiring workforce for future opportunities while enhancing the country’s resilience against cyber threats.
In his keynote address, Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary General of the National Cyber Security Agency, emphasized, “We take great pride, alongside Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to announce our third installment of Thailand Cyber Top Talent. Bigger and more comprehensive than its predecessor, we have three distinct categories this year, drawing in 831 teams and totaling 2,323 participants. It’s an unbeatable opportunity for school/university pupils and the public at large – digital natives with hands-on cybersecurity skills, to showcase their talent and ingenuity.”
“The competition is a crucial tool to nurture, mentor, and gear them up for the demands of a cybersecurity career. We’ve enlisted the expertise of established cybersecurity outfits, like TB-CERT, SOSECURE, Secure-D Center, and more to ensure participants get support and world-class training”, continues Amorn. “With their help, we hope to equip Thailand’s brightest talents with the best resources to stand tall in the global cybersecurity space.”
Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. shares a similar ethos. Dedicated to securing the digital landscape, the company believes the key lies in fostering solid partnerships with various sectors and nurturing the capabilities of their human resources. For many years, Huawei has been diligently working with the Thai government and the private sector. Together, they’ve successfully powered numerous cybersecurity projects, thereby laying a strong cybersecurity foundation and data protection protocols to outfit security forces against the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape.
The initial stages of the ‘Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2023’ were conducted via an online platform, with over 30 teams contending for the chance to enter the grand finale. It followed a CTF model while the ultimate showdown, termed ‘Attack the Virtual World’, is slated for September 30 at the Centara Grand Hotel, in Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok.
