Yesterday, a high-level strategic meeting was presided over by the esteemed Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul. The meeting, graced by governors of various Thai provinces, was convened to discuss the ministry’s top priorities. Key areas of focus included dedication to the nation’s highest institution, the enforcement of anti-corruption strategies, and endorsement of Pheu Thai’s innovative 10,000 baht digital wallet initiative.

As a grand testimony to modernity interwoven with traditional Thai aesthetics, the meeting was set in the plush environs of Centara Grand, located in Central Plaza Lat Phrao, Bangkok. The gathering saw the participation of prime movers in the government such as Deputy Interior Ministers, Songsak Thongsri and Chada Thaiset, alongside provincial governors, and high-ranking officials from the ministry, reported the Bangkok Post. Minister Anutin left no room for doubt about the significance of the digital wallet policy.

This revolutionary policy essentially empowers eligible citizens to procure goods in a four-kilometer vicinity of their listed residence address. The agenda proposed by Minister Anutin sought encouragement from the governors to devise strategies that would spur local production and stimulate economic growth through indigenous product development.

He stressed, “The crux of the matter is the elimination of any corrupt practices. The benefits of the 10,000 baht digital wallet should completely reach the intended recipients. We have to ensure that eligible persons of 16 years or older, receive the complete allocation”. Anutin’s discussion was loaded with cautionary advice against fraudulent activities, specifically a fraudulent scheme where intermediaries have been reported to buy the 10,000 baht digital wallet in exchange for only 3,000 baht in physical cash.

In an attempt to reinforce confidence, he reassured high-ranking provincial headmen that his office, together with his deputies, was always open for assistance. Anutin painted a humble picture of himself, stating he is a grounded person with no expectation of ostentatious gestures on his trips. “There’s no need to entertain me extravagantly in fine dining establishments or stage welcoming grand parties. A simple approach works best,” he shared in an earnest tone.

Infusing the meeting with a sense of duty, he reminded all governors to discharge their duties with earnestness and honor. He encouraged transparency in official reshuffles and warned against accepting claims of backdoor promotion. Anutin made it clear that promotion for state officials should be commensurate with hard work and notable achievements, not favoritism.

The Deputy Prime Minister strongly encouraged reporting of underhanded activities directed to him and welcomed related evidence. In conclusion, he urged everyone to embrace contemporary technologies, including the digital wallet, to better serve the Thai citizenry.
