The tranquility was shattered when a hapless freshman university student became a target of a mindless act of violence carried out by alleged perpetrators hailing from a single school, both recent and long graduated. These individuals unleashed chaos that culminated in the unforeseen tragedy of the day, the demise of an innocent woman, marking a dark week for Bangkok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau.

Bangkok’s Metropolitan boss, Pol Lt Gen Thiti Sangsawang, conveyed the chilling details of the event on Tuesday. The vile act was executed by a faceless perpetrator, hidden behind the mask of a full-faced helmet, trailing behind on a motorcycle, yet it was clear he was not alone in plotting this attack.

In an act of untargeted violence, bullets were sprayed in multiple directions. A promising 19-year-old, Thanasorn Hongsawat, a budding scholar at the esteemed Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-Ok, Uthenthawai Campus, was a victim of this reckless act, suffering from profound injuries.

Caught in this unanticipated crossfire was an unsuspecting woman, Sirada Sinprasert, aged 45; she was merely there to attend to her banking needs at a nearby ATM. A renowned faculty member at the Sacred Heart Convent School, specializing in computer science, Sinprasert was the first victim of this senseless act of violence when a stray bullet struck her.

The meticulously conceived attack, according to Pol Lt Gen Thiti, had the hallmark of orchestrated crime, involving more than a solitary duo. The assailant and his accomplice made their escape on their purloined means of transportation — a motorcycle masked under a coat of fresh paint. The culprits, ever aware of their surroundings, changed their attire to throw off any pursuit.

Despite their attempts to flee, police forces are hot on their trails and are confident about their capture. Informed by insider intelligence from a local school, the authorities hold a strong belief that justice will soon be served.

In a disheartening revelation, Pol Lt Gen Thiti claimed the attack was fueled by an old-school rivalry rather than any personal vendetta. Echoing this sentiment, Pol Maj Gen Teeradet Thumsuthee, the prime investigator, elucidated that the assailants did not single out any specific individual but had fired aimless shots at an unsuspecting student. Disturbingly, their getaway was allegedly facilitated by an orchestration spanning both current and former students from a single school.
