A total of five million baht worth of gifts were made by various ministries, and another 1.3 million baht worth of medical supplies were given to Sri Lanka by the Foreign Ministry. Several departments worked together to make the contribution from Thailand to Sri Lanka. When Sri Lanka’s longest-ever power outage of 13 hours occurred in April, the nation descended into chaos. Since then, the nation has struggled to pay for essentials like fuel, medicine, and other necessities.
This information was released after Sri Lanka urgently requested assistance on Monday to feed hungry youngsters. Neil Hapuhinne, the secretary of Sri Lanka’s Ministry for Women and Child Affairs, reported that in 2021, the ministry had identified 127,000 malnourished children out of the country’s 570,000 children under the age of five. Additional assistance for Sri Lanka is also being considered by other Thai governmental and commercial sectors. The donations “represent the close and cordial ties as well as the goodwill between Thai and Sri Lankan peoples,” according to the announcement of the donation.
He claimed that over the previous year, the number of giveaways had virtually doubled. To feed potentially hundreds of thousands of youngsters, the ministry is looking for private donations. Over 90% of Sri Lankans, according to Hapuhinne, now depend on government assistance. 1.6 million government workers are included in this. Among them are the Thai Red Cross Society, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, the Public Health Ministry, and the Department of Disease Control. Yesterday, Thailand’s Foreign Ministry declared that the nation had provided Sri Lanka with food, medicine, medical supplies, and cash assistance. The severe economic crisis, according to UNICEF, has a disproportionately negative impact on children in Sri Lanka.
