Celebrating two auspicious occasions; His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s Birthday Anniversary on 28th July 2023, and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s Birthday Anniversary on 12th August 2023, the Ministry organised a special Study Visit. The organised trip aimed to pay tribute as well as showcase the royal projects suggested by their Highnesses that are a continuation of the work started by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
The celebratory event was graced by 26 Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Representatives along with their spouses, from across 21 different nations.
The 904 Royal Volunteers Training Center, established under the esteemed guidance of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, is a hub for learning royal works and varied projects that take place all over Thailand. It heavily focuses on the application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the New Agriculture Theory in everyday life.
Functional since May 7, 2019, the center spreads across an extensive 232-rai area, graciously offered by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. The center is a testament of the King’s aspiration to “strengthen the nation’s stability and the people’s happiness as well as to correct the wrongdoing and to follow through the Royal Initiatives under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.”
The diplomatic delegates were warmly welcomed by the senior officials of the Bureau of the Royal Household on their arrival at the 904 Royal Volunteers Training Centre. Leading the charge of welcome were Air Chief Marshal Amnart Jeeramaneemai, Grand Chamberlain, Chittrapat Krairiksh, Deputy Director-General of the Department of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary, and Khunying Chantanee Thanarak, Assistant to His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary and Director-General of the Department of the Lord Chamberlain.
The visiting team was presented with Royal Volunteers caps and scarves and was introduced to the center’s objective and functioning by Admiral Kaneepol Songjaroen, Director of the 904 Royal Volunteers Training Centre. The delegates could witness the balance of life by visiting numerous learning stations.
The Study Visit successfully garnered considerable interest among the Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Representatives and their spouses. The visiting delegates were exposed to hands-on experiences such as feeding buffaloes, making multi-purpose organic cleaners, crafting clay houses, and reforestation efforts. They were heavily impressed with these royal initiatives, encouraging sustainable living with nature.
Sufficiency Economy is deeply rooted in the integral principles of Thai culture and traditional way of living. Its essence aligns with the global development agenda which focusses on acceleration of human development through balance and eco-friendly growth that can be practiced in everyday life scenarios.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been organising such exclusive study visits for international delegates and their spouses since 2002. These visits aim to highlight the success stories of royal projects dedicated towards improving people’s well-being, while emphasising Thailand’s proactive role in foreign policy, and promoting Thai cultures, identities and tourism.
