According to health permanent secretary Kiattiphum Wongrajit, who asserted that the ministry has set a goal to declare Covid-19 an endemic disease, the government has donated molnupiravir to private hospitals in order to treat Covid-19 patients without charge. Additionally, to better treat patients, private hospitals might purchase additional antiviral medications. According to Dr. Kiattiphum, the Department of Medical Services guidelines, which specifies that patients in the yellow group (moderate symptoms) and those with more severe symptoms should receive the antiviral therapy, may one day permit drugstores to administer molnupirvir. “The meeting gave Dr. Thongchai Keeratihatthayakon, deputy permanent secretary of health, and Dr. Thares Krasanaiyarawiwong, director-general of the Department of Health Service Support, the task of creating the framework for private clinics [to obtain molnupiravir]. The Government Pharmaceutical Organization will buy more of the medication. The Public Health Ministry plans to allow private clinics to purchase and dispense the antiviral medication molnupiravir for Covid-19 patients, just like private hospitals now do. According to him, the Food and Drug Administration has currently given three companies permission to market molnupiravir. The Department of Medical Services’ guidelines for indications and the severity of symptoms shall be followed by clinicians when prescribing antiviral medications such favipiravir, molnupiravir, remdesivir, paxlovid, or LAAB antibodies (AstraZeneca’s Evusheld). Next week, these medications will arrive in Thailand. He pointed out that these antiviral drugs can only be prescribed by doctors. He warned those who made independent purchases that they would imperil their lives by receiving fake medications. Not every person who is infected needs to take antiviral medication, claims Dr. Kiattiphum. Fah talai jone or prescription medication should be administered to patients with minor symptoms based on their symptoms (green chiretta).

Molnupiravir prescriptions for Covid-19 will now be accepted from doctor’s offices
